Introduced by AltaVista not long after the company went to the public. It exclusively covers image information.


Ditto

It is a commercial tool for finding image information. A large number of commercial sites are sandwiched in the results.

Flickr

As a Yahoo! company, Flickr claims that it is the best online photo management and sharing application in the world.

Google Image Search

Google introduced image searching to its site recently, claiming the most comprehensive image search on the Web. Thanks to the positive review Google receives for its text retrieval, its image search service is rated high as well. In addition, a number of options for refining searches are available on the Advanced Image Search interface.

Picsearch

Picsearch is a search engine for images with some options (e.g., images or animations, color or black & white) for one to fine-tune search results.

PictureFinder is physically located in Germany. It allows the user to hand-draw an image sketch as a query for retrieval purpose, implementing the so-called query by example.

Visual RetrievalWare
